New West Point Barracks Joins Trademasters Portfolio
Trademasters has been awarded the five-year building operation and maintenance contract at the newly constructed Gen. Benjamin O. Davis Jr. Barracks at West Point Military Academy in West Point, NY. Davis Barracks is a six-story, state of the art, 287,000 square foot facility that will house some of the country’s finest military students.
The barracks are named in honor of General Benjamin O. Davis Jr., who entered West Point as a cadet in 1932. General Davis overcame discrimination and segregation to became the first officer to graduate from the Army Air Corps’ all-black flight training program, the Tuskegee Airmen. His awards include the Silver Star, Distinguished Flying Cross and Air Medal for meritorious service and gallantry. In 1970, Davis retired from the Air Force as a lieutenant general, but was he recalled to active duty and promoted to General in 1998 before his passing in 2002.
As a part of the Davis Barracks contract, Trademasters has participated in the facility’s commissioning process, developed operating procedures, created short term and long-term equipment maintenance schedules, and implemented a computerized maintenance management system. Trademasters has also developed and instituted site-specific safety and training, 24/7/365 emergency response, continuity activity, and property management plans. These site-delivered services will ensure the tenants’ safety and comfort, as well as optimize the equipment’s performance, efficiency, and longevity.
Because it incorporates a variety of innovative and sustainable features throughout the facility, Davis Barracks is expected to achieve LEED Silver certification. It is Trademasters’ mission to help West Point achieve and maintain this goal through the currently contracted work, as well as in future opportunities at the Academy. Trademasters looks forward to being an integral part of the team as this transition takes place at West Point.
